We recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the Crafted For Action Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, and we were blown away by the entire experience. From meeting Jen, the inspiring founder of the conference, to diving deep into the craft beer industry and becoming part of a vibrant community, every moment was unforgettable. Here’s a recap of our favorite highlights from this fantastic event.
The Mostly Serious History of Beer by Jim Hodgson
One of the most engaging sessions was "The Mostly Serious History of Beer" by Jim Hodgson. Jim's wit and extensive knowledge made for an entertaining and educational journey through the evolution of beer. We learned about the ancient origins of brewing, the various cultural impacts on beer, and how it has shaped societies over centuries. Jim’s storytelling ability made history come alive, and we walked away with a new appreciation for the rich tapestry of beer's past.
The Atlanta History Beer Dinner
Hosted by the renowned Ale Sharpton at Oreatha's, the Atlanta History Beer Dinner was an absolute culinary delight. Ale’s expertise in pairing local beers with exquisite dishes made for a memorable evening. Each course was thoughtfully paired with a different brew, highlighting the unique flavors and histories of Atlanta’s local beer scene. It was an immersive experience that combined gastronomy with history, showcasing the best of what Atlanta has to offer.

The BrewGether Community Service and Panel
One of the most impactful parts of the festival was the BrewGether Community Service and Panel. This initiative brought together brewers and community members to engage in meaningful service projects and discussions. The sense of camaraderie and shared purpose was palpable as we worked together to make a difference in the local community. The panel discussions that followed were equally inspiring, as industry leaders shared their insights on fostering community through brewing. BrewGether truly exemplifies the spirit of unity and service that is at the heart of the craft beer movement.
Unplugged Summer Camp
The Unplugged Summer Camp, hosted by REI, was a refreshing and rejuvenating experience. This event provided a perfect blend of outdoor ambiance and craft beer enjoyment. With opportunities to unwind in nature and enjoy cold brews in a relaxed setting, it highlighted the importance of disconnecting from our busy lives and reconnecting with the natural world. It was a fantastic way to wrap up the festival, leaving us feeling both relaxed and invigorated.
